What you should know
A WHOIS lookup returns the public registration details for a domain name: when it was first registered, when it is set to expire, which registrar it was registered through, and its nameservers. This tool retrieves that data using RDAP (Registration Data Access Protocol), the modern, structured replacement for the legacy WHOIS protocol that domain registries are progressively switching to.
Personal registrant details -- name, address, email -- are commonly redacted or replaced with a privacy/proxy service's contact information. This is standard practice since data protection regulations such as GDPR took effect, and applies to the vast majority of domains, not just ones with something to hide. Seeing "REDACTED FOR PRIVACY" is normal, not suspicious.
